چکیده
Stochastic sequential bargaining models (Merlo and Wilson (1995, 1998)) have found wide applications in different fields including political economy and macroeconomics due to their flexibility in explaining delays in reaching an agreement. This paper presents new results in nonparametric identification and estimation of such models under different data scenarios.

Identification and Estimation of Stochastic Bargaining Models∗
Stochastic sequential bargaining models (Merlo and Wilson (1995, 1998)) have found wide applications in different fields including political economy and macroeconomics due to their flexibility in explaining delays in reaching an agreement. This paper presents new results in nonparametric identification and estimation of such models under different data scenarios.
متن کاملBargaining with Optimism: Identication and Estimation of a Model of Medical Malpractice Litigation
We study identi cation and estimation of a structural model of bargaining with optimism where players have heterogeneous beliefs about the nal resolution of a dispute if they fail to reach an agreement. We show that the distribution of beliefs of both parties and the stochastic bargaining surplus are nonparametrically identi ed from the probability of settlement and the distribution of transfe...
متن کاملBargaining with Heterogeneous Beliefs: A Structural Analysis of Florida Medical Malpractice Lawsuits
We propose a structural bargaining model where players hold heterogeneous beliefs about the nal resolution if no settlement is reached outside the court. We show the distribution of their beliefs and the stochastic surplus are nonparametrically identi ed from the probability for reaching an settlement and the distribution of nal transfers between players. We then use a Simulated Maximum Likel...

Stochastic sequential bargaining games (Merlo and Wilson (1995, 1998)) have found wide applications in various elds including political economy and macroeconomics due to their exibility in explaining delays in reaching an agreement. In this paper, we present new results in nonparametric identi cation of such models under di¤erent scenarios of data availability. First, we give conditions for a...
متن کاملMajority Rule in a Stochastic Model of Bargaining
In this paper we consider multilateral stochastic bargaining models with general agreement rules. For n-player games where in each period a player is randomly selected to allocate a stochastic level of surplus and q n players have to agree on a proposal to induce its acceptance, we characterize the set of stationary subgame perfect equilibrium payoffs and establish their existence. We show that...
